This is an excellent example of a Smith & Wesson Model 1917 revolver issued to the US military during WW1. It is all matching, “United States Property” marked, and has the proper military inspection stamp. It comes as a full rig with a very nice 1917-dated holster with original lanyard, original canvas belt, and original ammo pouches dated 1918. The ammo pouches are filled with 18 cartridges of .45 ACP ammo (not dated) with moon clips. The gun itself has retained about 97% of its beautiful high polish finish. There are a few tiny dots of wear on the left side of the barrel and on the top strap. Very minor wear on the high edges of the cylinder with a light roll mark. Light freckling on the grip straps. Beautiful case-hardening on the hammer and trigger. Lanyard loop intact. Comes with minty wood grips – the right panel is hand-numbered to match the gun. Mint bore. The cylinder is tight and the action is smooth.
